Italy’s number one in online medical supplies. And an ecommerce that carries 5,000 orders a month without flinching.

CFS is the Italian leader in the online sale of medical products and healthcare supplies, B2B and B2C together. The ecommerce on Magento 2 had become slow and expensive to maintain, just as the volumes were growing. We migrated it to Shopify Plus, carrying over 100,000 historical orders across without losing anything. Today the pages load in 1.3 seconds and maintenance costs 70% less.

WHO CFS IS

Who CFS is.

CFS is the Italian reference point for online healthcare supplies: medical products, devices, materials for practices, clinics and private customers. An enormous catalog — more than 800 categories, thousands of lines — and a double clientele, professional (B2B) and consumer (B2C), with different needs.

Based in Livorno, we have worked with them since 2017. A company doing excellent work and growing, but with a digital machine that was starting to fall behind the pace.

THE CHALLENGE

“The more we grew, the more the site held us back.”

The client’s words: “We had built everything on Magento, but every year maintenance weighed more and every change became a project.” As volumes grew, the platform was showing the strain: slow pages, rising running costs, complicated updates. In a sector where an order can be urgent and where trust is everything, slowness is not a cosmetic annoyance: it is revenue evaporating.

Three things were needed at once — speed, stability at high volume and costs under control — without losing the history of an ecommerce that had been running for years and without stopping sales for a single day.

WHAT WE DID

From Magento 2 to Shopify Plus, without losing a thing.

We planned a complete migration to Shopify Plus: more than 100,000 historical orders, the whole catalog (800+ categories), the customer accounts and all the customizations — around 160 — transferred with care. Migration is the most delicate moment for a mature ecommerce: an error on the data means customers who cannot find their orders, wrong prices, damaged SEO.

We ran it in phases, with continuous testing before go-live, so that the switch was invisible to the people buying and noticeable only in the numbers: faster, more stable, less expensive.

THE EXPERIENCE

An ecommerce built for big numbers.

On Shopify Plus we rebuilt the experience around CFS’s real scale: a very deep catalog that had to stay navigable, a search that has to find the right product fast, a checkout that carries the peaks. We integrated Clerk for search and intelligent recommendations, and Klaviyo for email marketing and automations — cart recovery, post-sale, repeat purchase.

The result is a machine that runs: more than 5,000 orders a month handled without a hitch, pages loading in 1.3 seconds, and a structure the team can update on its own, without depending on constant technical work.
